If tomorrow all the things were gone I'd worked for all my life, And I had to start again with just my children and my wife, I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today, 'Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can't take that away.
And I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free, And I won't forget the ones who died who gave that right to me, And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today, 'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God Bless the U.S.A.
From the lakes of Minnesota to the hills of Tennessee, Across the plains of Texas from sea to shining sea. From Detroit down to Houston and New York to L.A., well There's pride in every American heart and it's time we stand and say:
that I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free, And I won't forget the ones who died who gave that right to me, And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today, 'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God Bless the U.S.A.

gosh this gives me goosebumps and teary eyed. its definitely a day that america will never forget and its a day when we look upon the face of strangers standing next to us, knowing they are thinking and feeling and remembering the same. rip in peace to all of the loved ones and all who were lost, you will never be forgotten
the stories they tell just get more and more prominent every year and brings the pain and the tears to surface again. the title of this is aptly so, the day america cried. out of all the things that america has suffered through, jfk for example, 9/11 far supercedes any of that, at least in my lifetime. its the one moment, the one day, that nothing else really matters, not the political games, not that racial animosity, not the dividing of rich/poor, its the day that we are all americans, feeling it, living it, remembering it. tragic that on that day every year, thats the only day that we are all truely united
Remember those lost with love and remember there families with your love too for they most of all need the support that this tragic day awakened, "Our humanity" to what we do best, caring for one another when in greatest need
Yep and this sad event I think really showed you just how much there truly is in the world for it was sad day for all of humanity & humanity felt it Deeply
