9-11: The Day America Cried by VisualPoetress 9-11: The Day America Cried by VisualPoetress
It is the 11th anniversary of September 11th.

September 11th, 2001 was a day no one will forget. It was the worst horror this nation has ever had to endure.

This is dedicated to all my fellow Americans (especially the victims, heroes and families of the 9/11 tragedy).

Here is one hero who passed away, please if you feel urged to, leave your respects on this picture:

Note: Please in respect for the families who lost love ones, do not turn this into a political debate area.

Lee Greenwood - God Bless The USA

Lyrics:

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again
with just my children and my wife,
I'd thank my lucky stars
to be living here today,
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom
and they can't take that away.

And I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the ones who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota
to the hills of Tennessee,
Across the plains of Texas
from sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston
and New York to L.A.,
well There's pride in every American heart
and it's time we stand and say:

that I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the ones who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

And I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the ones who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

gosh this gives me goosebumps and teary eyed. its definitely a day that america will never forget and its a day when we look upon the face of strangers standing next to us, knowing they are thinking and feeling and remembering the same. rip in peace to all of the loved ones and all who were lost, you will never be forgotten :blowkiss:

True, it made us more aware if anything. Watching the documentaries on 9/11 just bring up the tears again.

the stories they tell just get more and more prominent every year and brings the pain and the tears to surface again. the title of this is aptly so, the day america cried. out of all the things that america has suffered through, jfk for example, 9/11 far supercedes any of that, at least in my lifetime. its the one moment, the one day, that nothing else really matters, not the political games, not that racial animosity, not the dividing of rich/poor, its the day that we are all americans, feeling it, living it, remembering it. tragic that on that day every year, thats the only day that we are all truely united :(

It sure did, I think that kind of thinking is what made America vulnerable but now more precautions are in place to help secure us. And more people around of their surroundings. RIP to all the victims and may their families one day find peace.

Yes that would be nice. Living there in NY I bet you are reminded of it every day. Her in MN we are not faced with those daily reminders so we tend to forget. I sure hope nothing every happens like that again here on our soil. But the reality is that it could very much so happen again. :)

I was only 5 when 9/11 hit. It makes me so :pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff::pissedoff: that these people would do such an unspeakable act. bin Laden=. Al Qaeda=:devil:. Any and all terrorists=:finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger::finger:

I still remember that day like it was yesterday... That Tuesday, my Mom picked me up from school, and we watched the events on television. It did not hit me the effect it had on all the victims until a year later, when I watched documentaries on the tragic event. I remember crying for all those who struggled for their lives... and how I could not comprehend how those extremist people behind the terror could hate a country so much to even sacrifice their own lives. Unlike a natural disaster, this event did not have to happen...
